The Chamber Unveils New Destination: Proud Heritage of Black Educators
Click Here to download a Copy (PDF)Governor L. Douglas Wilder and Miss Virginia, Nancy Redd, attended the unveiling of a new tourism destination for the area--the Proud Heritage of Black Educators. In a packed auditorium at Albert Harris Intermediate School, Governor Wilder said, "It's always warming and humbling to remember how you got to where you are."


This tourism initiative showcases 13 sites in the community that are important to the area's history, such as Albert Harris Intermediate School, which was the city's black high school during segregation.
